About Dr. Steve Tutty
Dr. Steve Tutty is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in child, forensic and neuropsychology. He has more than 25 years of direct clinical and forensic practice and more than 20 years of teaching, research and publishing in clinical psychology across multiple US states.
A clinician first
Before his evaluation work, Dr. Tutty spent a decade counseling children, mostly with ADHD and autism, and adults with depression. That hands-on experience, gained before advanced training rather than only through internships, gave him a grounded, practical approach to assessment that still shapes his reports: clear findings, and recommendations families, schools and courts can actually use.
A scientist-practitioner
As a National Health Scholar, Dr. Tutty took part in randomized clinical trials in two fields. In ADHD, he worked with pediatrician Harlan Gephart, MD, on a program to improve behavioral and social skills in children newly diagnosed in a pediatric setting. In depression, he worked with principal investigator Greg Simon, MD, on telephone psychotherapy for primary care patients. That work began in 2000 and was among the earliest telehealth programs in behavioral health. The research was published in JAMA, the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics, General Hospital Psychiatry and Behavior Therapy.
